This panel explores the intersections of class with race and gender in the United States in 2012. We define class structures in relation to the 99%/1% metaphor popularized by the Occupy Movement and explore the intersections of class with race, gender, and popular culture in the context of the social movements and presidential campaigns percolating in 2012. The panel aims to specify the complex ways in which class dynamics shape the society and movements we experience now.
William Tabb is Professor Emeritus of Economics at CUNY's Queens College. He has written on class, the state, and globalization.
